National Assembly To Meet Thursday – April 23, 2009

Five bills will be debated when the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly convenes on Thursday.
According to the Order Paper issued by the Clerk of the lawmaking body, Mr. Jose Lloyd, Minister of Finance, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris will move the second reading of the Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 2009 and the Licences on Business and Occupations, Bill, 2009.
While the insurance bill is being brought to the Assembly for the first time, the licences bill had its first reading last month.
Dr. Harris will also introduce and read a first time, the Financial Services Regulatory Commission Bill, 2009 at Thursday’s sitting.
Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, Dr. the Hon. Dennis Merchant will pilot through all three stages the Magistrate’s Code of Procedure (Amendment Bill) 2009.
Minister of Health, Social and Community Development and Gender Affairs, Hon. Rupert Herbert will move the second reading of the Solid Waste Management Bill, 2008, which had its first reading in the lawmaking body at the November 25th 2008 sitting.
Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture, Sen. the Hon. Richard Skerritt will move the second reading of the National Trust Bill, which had its first reading in the National Assembly on June 9th 2005.
