Deputy Premier Hon. Eric Evelyn, Minister of Culture in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), has extended warm congratulations to the winners of the recently held Culturama 49 Flow Miss Culture Swimwear Contest and the Greenhouse Band Junior Kaiso Contest.

Nevilla Douglas was crowned the Nevis Culturama 49 Flow Miss Culture Swimwear Queen, while Shante “Princess Neveah” Hendrickson claimed the title of Nevis Culturama 49 Greenhouse Band Junior Kaiso Monarch.

“I extend hearty congratulations to Miss Nevilla Douglas, our new Miss Culture Swimwear,” said Minister Evelyn. “It was a closely contested competition, and I commend all the contestants for their outstanding performances, which made Tuesday night’s show a memorable one.”

He also praised the young calypsonians, noting, “The junior calypsonians gave impressive performances, and Shante Hendrickson, known as ‘Princess Neveah,’ emerged victorious. Winning the crown for two consecutive years is no easy feat. The future of calypso in Nevis is looking extremely bright.”

The Culturama 49 Flow Miss Culture Swimwear Contest took place on August 1. In addition to winning the crown, Nevilla Douglas, representing Stage Right, won three of the four judged segments: Fitness, One-Piece, and Two-Piece categories.

First runner-up Tyanna Richards, representing Carib Jack, won Best Creative Wear and received the Miss Amity Award. Vanessa Simon, Miss Flow, placed second runner-up. Atalia Newton, Miss Stella’s Engineering, was named Miss Photogenic and also won the Social Media Award.

In the Greenhouse Band Junior Kaiso Contest held on August 2, a tiebreaker was used to determine the final standings. Mighty Zen placed as first runner-up, and Dequon was awarded second runner-up.

Culturama 49 festivities continue with the National Bank Soca Monarch Contest on Thursday, August 3, followed by the TDC Senior Kaiso Contest on Friday, August 4. The National Bank Culturama 49 Art, Craft, and Food Fair will be held on Saturday, August 5. The Bank of Nevis Ltd. Miss Culture Queen Pageant will take place on Sunday, August 6, followed by the Miss Caribbean Culture Queen Pageant on Monday, August 7.
