A fault in the Frigate Bay area early Wednesday morning, resulted in an automatic shut down of electricity supply to several areas.

Superintendent of the Needsmust Power Station, Mr. Kevin Bennett said that at approximately 5:40 this morning (Wednesday), an electrical fault in the field caused the protection system to automatically shut off the supply of electricity to most areas.

“Engineers and field technicians were quickly mobilized and carried out the necessary checks. It was subsequently discovered that the cause of the failure was associated with a fault at Frigate Bay. The process of restoration began at approximately 06:30 with the closing of the Industrial Site feeder and by 08:00 most of the island had been restored except sections of the Cayon and Frigate Bay,” said Mr. Bennett.

He used the opportunity to apologise for the interruption in service.
