Nevis Premier Holds Discussions With Fire Department

Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry met with eighteen employees of the Fire Department on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in an effort to have open discussions on the Fire division’s needs, concerns, strengths and weaknesses.

The talks are a part of the Nevis Island Administration’s goal of forging a better relationship with the Fire Department and gaining solutions to any possible problems the officers may have.

The meeting of the Nevis Fire Service personnel and Premier Parry began with an introduction by the Fire Sub-Station Officer, Mr. David Stapleton, who welcomed the Premier and invited him to address the gathering.

Nevis Premier Supports Switch To New Drivers License

Premier of Nevis Hon. Joseph Parry encouraged Nevisians to switch to the new enhanced drivers license. He made the call moments after the Ms. Neva Manners Deputy Comptroller for the Inland Revenue Department issued him with the first card on the island, on Monday March 03, 2008, at the Department’s Charlestown office.
 
“I would like to encourage all Nevisians to get the new card. It is my understanding that it is time saving, it is only a matter of minutes and you get your card the same time rather than the next day. I also understand that it has some enhanced security features which would be of benefit to all the citizens who use it.

Doing Business In Nevis Just Got Easier

The 2006 World Bank’s Report on doing business ranked St.Kitts- Nevis number eighty five out of over one hundred and seventy countries in the world and last among the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

This new administration of only 19 months old, took a giant step Thursday by making it simpler for persons to do business in Nevis.

During Thursday’s sitting of the Nevis Island Assembly at Hamilton House, the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) led administration acknowledged the problem and provided a solution with the passage of the Nevis Investment Promotion Agency Ordinance, 2008.

Nevis Hosts Diplomatic Week

On Wednesday February 20, 2008, the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) led by Premier and Minister of Finance and Tourism the Hon. Joseph Parry, hosted diplomatic and consular representatives accredited to St. Kitts Nevis at a luncheon at the scenic Botanical Gardens at Montpelier Estate on Nevis.
 
The Premier who had the opportunity to address the representatives on the strides made in the Nevis Financial Services sector one day before at the Ocean Terrace Inn, said he was happy for the opportunity to enlighten them about the jurisdiction and that they had visited Nevis.  He urged them to take with them fond memories of the island.
 
“I really enjoyed addressing you yesterday about our financial services and I must say that we know that we have people here from Switzerland that is the headquarters of financial services, so we are asking you to take back the message, to ensure that we make that direct connection with Switzerland, it will help our financial services sector to grow.
