Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris has expressed that the government is grateful to have the Park Hyatt St. Kitts added as another high-end property that will “in very important ways present a boost in tourism.”

In a recent visit to the construction site, Prime Minister Harris added that he was particularly impressed with the vision of making this “genuinely a Park Hyatt of St. Kitts” as a way of branding the country.

Dr. Harris also noted the numerous job opportunities that will be available for the youth of the federation through the project.

“This means there will be ample opportunities for our young people to find work, for those who have interest in other areas to find a niche here and particularly important for our farmers, fishers, in fact all of society to benefit from the Park Hyatt,” said the Prime Minister. “We expect as a result of this and the demands to be placed on service, that there is going to be meaningful collaboration between our hospitality school at CFBC [Clarence Fitzroy Bryant Collage] and of course the Park Hyatt.”

Also on site was Minister of Tourism the Hon. Lindsay Grant who stated that he was pleased to see the work that is being done. Minister Grant noted that he is looking forward to 300 to 400 more persons being employed. Currently there are over 200 persons employed.

“It augers well for our tourism product in particular the tremendous amount of opportunities that will become available to our people,” Minister Grant stated. “We welcome, if they meet their target, having a brand new five-star hotel within the next eleven months.”

CEO of Range Developments Mohammed Asaria outlined the progress being made.

“There is a tremendous amount of work going on,” Mr. Asaria said. “We are meeting our delivery targets and we are looking forward to delivering a spectacular resort with the help of the Hon. Minister of Tourism and delivering something that the people and the government and all of us can be very proud of.”

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has pledged to give its full support to entities such as this to advance the islands as a premiere tourism destination.
