The National Housing Corporation (NHC) is concentrating on providing low-income affordable homes.

This was disclosed by St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.

“NHC is no longer in the business of selling or distributing land,” said Dr. Douglas, who added that the Special Land Sales Unit through the Land Distribution Committee will allocate lands which the NHC will require for the construction of affordable homes for low income homes.

He said applications for land submitted through the National Housing Corporation will be sent to the Land Distribution Committee.

However Dr. Douglas advised that persons who have previously submitted applications to NHC for land to provide update to the Land Distribution Committee in the Ministry of Sustainable Development.

“I believe that we should be able to accommodate all requests for land,” he said.

The Prime Minister noted that during interviews for land applicants it is gleaned that they really are trying to get an affordable house.

“If one needs an affordable house then the application should be made to the NHC, but if land is needed and you are in a position to build your own home on that land, then the application should be appropriately be sent to the National Land Sales Unit in the Ministry of Sustainable  Development,” said Prime Minister Douglas.

  1. I believe that the people who work for government are strictley helping only friends and family to attain low income houses even if they dont need it. I have been applying for house and land for over three years now and the only response I recieved was that my name is on file. personally, I think that is non-sense and I should of had my own house by now with the amount of times I applied. It is very irritatting to see that I am very much in need of a house and although i had the money to pay CASH for land I was still over looked and others who couldn’t even afford to pay a dime recieved house or land.
