The Patio Banquet Hall in Toronto was full of applause and cheer as the Keynote Speaker, the Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry gave a well received speech at the Nevis Association of Canada (NEVCAN) 30TH Anniversary Dinner and Dance. This function was attended by citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis, OECS and Caricom nationals, on Saturday, October 25th.

Also present were the executive members of the various OECS organizations in Toronto.

The Premier was introduced by Honorary Consul General, Mr. John Allen who read a profile of the Hon. Joseph Parry and referred to him as the “Leader for the 21st Century.”

Premier of Nevis and Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Joseph Parry addressed the nation on Wednesday October 22nd, to inform the general public of the new airline schedule for Nevis.

During the past few months, Nevis has been facing difficulties with two airline carriers, the American Airline branch of American Eagle and the regional airline Carib Aviation. The matter with American Eagle has been centered on the challenges that the company has faced with their hub in Puerto Rico and with the decision that American Eagle has made to take most of their business to Miami.  American Eagle has had to reorganize; and in doing so the two daily flights to Nevis were affected.

Persons affected by the recent passage of Hurricane Omar were remembered Sunday at a Service of Thanksgiving to mark the anniversary of the ruling Labour Party’s re-election to office in 2004.

“We thank God today for His mercies and sparing our lives, especially the lives of the people of New Guinea, Half Way Tree, Godwin Ghaut, Conyers, Middle Island, Lamberts, Verchilds, Old Road, Challengers, Palmetto Point and Trinity and those in Nevis on our western coastline that felt the surging waves and gusty winds of Hurricane Omar,” said Prime Minister and National Political Leader of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, in brief remarks during the service at the Half Way Tree Methodist Church.
