Premier of Nevis and Minister of Tourism the Hon. Joseph Parry applauded employees of the Four Seasons Resort Nevis for their outstanding service and for having kept the Nevisian flag flying. The Premier was the guest speaker at the Employees Award Ceremony held on Wednesday March 19, 2008, at the Four Seasons Resort.
“I congratulate the employers, I congratulate the managers, I congratulate especially the Nevisian managers I want you [employees] to respect them as you respect foreign managers, I want you to treat them well. I congratulate the supervisors, I congratulate the line workers, the landscapers all of you because it is because of the great effort of all of you why the Four Seasons has this great reputation.
“Everyone of you deserves your award, you have worked hard, you have done well, you have demonstrated that the people of Nevis can perform as well as anybody else in any other part of the world, I am proud of you I congratulate you!” he said.
He told the employees that he was happy to join with them for the celebrative occasion and was proud as a Nevisian that they had kept the Nevisian flag flying. He further gave high praise to the employees whom he credited with helping to build a formidable reputation for the establishment, not only in the Caribbean but in the United States of America and Europe.
Mr. Parry said 15 years ago the island was not well known, however today when Nevis and the Four Seasons Resort was mentioned everyone knew how to locate the island.
“A few months ago I learnt that you were being assessed and that you were being successful in getting your Five Diamond Award again. There are not many hotels in the Caribbean who can boast of having a Five Diamond Award and wherever I have gone in the Caribbean people have said to me that the best hotel in the Caribbean is the Four Seasons Resort on the island of Nevis.
“I am saying to you that in St. Kitts they would love to have the Four Seasons. Oh yes! They would love to have the Four Seasons! On any other island in the Caribbean they would love to have the Four Seasons so let us hold on to the Four Seasons right here on the island of Nevis,” he said.
The Tourism Minister said his Nevis Reformation Party led-Administration’s was committed to the promotion of outstanding service and endeavored to ensure that it maintained the best reputation that the island could give.
“Nevis is about good service, friendly intelligent people, a lovely clean island and very up market tourism. We have every reason to be proud and expect we will keep our highest standards. You have done a great job and you have a great hotel here on the island of Nevis,” he said.
One of the highlights of the awards ceremony was the announcement of the Employee of the Year which was awarded to a 15 year employee, Miss Charlene Nisbett, team leader of the Housekeeping Department. A grateful Miss Nisbett thanked her supervisor and co-workers for their team efforts which helped her to achieve the distinct honor.
The awards ceremony saw employees receive awards for outstanding service in 1, 5, 10 and 15 years in various areas of the resort. In attendance were managers of the Four Seasons Resort, awardees and well wishers who were treated to a celebratory reception which followed the awards presentation.
