Attorney at law, Ms. Marcella Liburd has called on the Political Leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM), Mr. Lindsay Grant to be responsible and stop politicizing incidents of crime.

“Lindsay Grant should come better than that. That only goes to show you more and more each day that he ain’t ready yet. For the longest while PAM has been trying making a political football out of crime, but crime is above politics. Crime strikes everybody. It has nothing to do with politics, but when you’re desperate, when you’re drowning, you need something to hold on to like a drowning man trying his best to put politics in it,” said Ms. Liburd, the former speaker of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly.

She was at the time condemning the sexual assault on two women last weekend at a public meeting in the Shadwell/Pine Gardens/Pleasant View communities.

“We in the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party say all of us need to get rid of crime. We have to work together. We all have to join in the fight against crime and we know that crime should be above politics,” said Ms. Liburd.

She disclosed that since her announcement as the Labour Party’s candidate for Central Basseterre, her law office has been broken into and burglarized.

“I could have come to the airwaves and politicise it. The Hon. Sam Condor, since he has been the Deputy Prime Minister, his own home has been broken into and items stolen,” said Ms. Liburd.

“I do not understand why all this since crime is above politics, but it appears that when you are desperate, you try to see if you can get an advantage and sympathy,” she said.
