You Can Help Too…. By Voting Online
Basseterre, St. Kitts – Nevis
February 16, 2009 (SKNIS)
An effort to get St. Kitts and Nevis featured on the popular weekday morning programme “The Today Show” which airs on the United States television network, NBC, has gained some momentum locally and residents and well-wishers are encouraged to join the campaign.
An email urging locals to vote early, and vote often, online, has been finding its way into local internet addresses in recent weeks. The listed link takes browsers directly to a page for the “Where in the World is Matt Lauer” series which features the co-host traveling to locations around the world.
The 10-year series run has taken Lauer to exotic locales including Machu Pichu in Bangkok, Seychelles, Istanbul, Laos, Amsterdam and Buenos Aires.
Saju Ng’alla, Marketing Communications Manager at the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, told SKNIS that the exposure of the twin-island Federation through this medium would be significant for the tourism product.
“Having Mr. Lauer here in St. Kitts and Nevis would be a tremendous opportunity for us [public and private sector tourism related agencies] to market the Federation,” he noted. “The exposure will be tremendous as “The Today Show” has a large following so this will provide free advertising for the Federation as a top quality tourist destination.”
The Today Show has an estimated audience of six million viewers in the U.S. and is the highest-rated morning news and talk show for the past 14 years.
Currently, Jamaica is leading the vote tally with 20 percent of the approximate 170,000 votes to date. St. Kitts and Nevis currently has 2.5 percent. Persons can vote here.
