Dr. David Hall – UVI President

The strengthening of the relationship between the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) and St. Kitts and Nevis will be tabled when Dr. David Hall, President of the UVI visits the Federation from August 28 to 31, 2012.
Dr. Hall is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil L. Douglas and Minister of Education Honourable Nigel Carty on April 29. He will also pay a courtesy call on Minister of Tourism Honourable Richard Skerritt, an alumnus of UVI and the first Rhodes Scholar produced by the learning institution. The UVI President will also meet with officials and where possible students of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus as well as the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC).
Since being installed as the Fifth President of UVI on August 01, 2009, Dr Hall has been actively working to achieve the theme “The Quest for Greatness” which he adopted for his tenure. St. Kitts and Nevis has been able to benefit from new policies including the signing of a June 2011 Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between UVI and CFBC which has the overall goal of “the establishment of opportunities for the continued education progress and growth of graduates of CFBC through enrollment in programmes at UVI and the facilitation of such enrollment.” There has also been the resolution of the UVI Board of Trustees which allows for a rate reduction for CFBC graduates attending UVI, under the terms of the MOA.
Dr. Hall’s itinerary includes a trip to the sister island of Nevis on August 30 where he will meet with Premier of Nevis Honourable Joseph Parry as well as the Principal and students of the Charlestown Secondary Sixth Form.
The UVI President’s visit also incorporates meetings with prospective UVI students and Alumni as well as a press conference with the local media representatives.
The University of the Virgin Islands is currently celebrating its Golden Jubilee Anniversary under the theme “Honouring our Past ““ Creating our Future.”
