Murders On The Rise In St. Kitts – Nevis

At about 2:45 pm on July 18th 2009, Police responded to a report of shooting along the Island Main Road at Godwins.   Upon arrival, officers met 24 year-old Dexter Marshum of Godwin Ghaut lying on the sea side of the road bleeding.  The District Medical Officer, Dr. Wilson visited the scene and pronounced Marshum dead. 

Investigations revealed that Marshum had an altercation with a group of young men when one of them drew a pistol and shot him multiple times about his body.  Royden Gumbs of Godwins Ghaut was passing at the time and he too was attacked and shot in the left leg.  His mother Jessica Gumbs who was nearby, ran to his assistance and was also shot in the leg.  The Gumbs were taken to the JNF Hospital where they were treated and warded in stable condition. 

Alpha Duporte alias Raga of Godwin Yard and others, are presently being sought by the Police in connection with this incident.  Anyone knowing his whereabouts is asks to call the Sandy Point Police Station at telephone number 465-6261.  Investigations are ongoing. Duporte is considered armed and dangerous.
