Nevis Government Launches 1st Small Business Week

The first ever Small Business Week was officially launched today Monday February 25, 2008, by Minister of Social Development, the Hon. Hensley Daniel at the Nevis Cultural Center. 
 
The week which runs until Friday February 29 under the theme, “Bridges to Better Business” is organised by the Small Enterprise Development Unit (SEDU) in the Ministry of Social Development, Trade and Industry in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA).
 
While delivering remarks at Monday’s opening ceremony Junior Minister in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Hon Dwight Cozier said that the Nevis Reformation Party led-Administration continued to work with small business persons on Nevis, since it believed that it was through strengthening the small business sector that the economy would flourish.

Premier Congratulates Nevis 20/20 Cricket Team

The Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry congratulated the Nevis 20/20 Cricket team, coach Stuart Williams and manager Derek Parry for their performance against Jamaica last Saturday at the Stanford 20/20 Cricket tournament in Antigua. Mr. Parry commended the team Wednesday morning on Choice FM’s popular radio program, “Sports Rap” hosted by Malcolm George.

While on the program, Premier Parry also thanked the former test players: Elquemedo Willett, Keith Arthurton, Carly Tuckett, and two of our greatest Cricketing heroes from Nevis, Mr. Livingston Sargeant and Livingston Lawrence.

Delta Airlines Arrives In St. Kitts – Nevis

The governing St. Kitts – Nevis Labour Party Administration’s thrust to boost tourism for stakeholders paid dividends with the inauguration of the weekly flight by Delta Airlines from the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta to the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts.

Passengers on the arrival flight were greeted by a Welcome Party headed by Minister of State for Tourism, Hon. Richard Skerritt; the pulsating sounds of the Cayon High School Steel Band, Mock Jumbies from Sandy Point, government officials and represntatives from the various sectors of the tourism industry.

Prime Minister Douglas said that the new Delta flight has been made possible because of “my own government’s vision and ongoing investment in the infrastructure for tourism development here in St. Kitts and Nevis.”

Thousands Of Offshore Companies Registered On Nevis

Premier and Minster of Finance the Hon. Joseph Parry told Diplomatic representatives that the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) had intentions to continue to ensure that Nevis maintained an Offshore Financial Services jurisdiction of the highest standard.
 
The Premier made the statement on Wednesday February 19, 2008, at the Ocean Terrace Inn (OTI) in St. Kitts, when he addressed Diplomatic and Consular representatives accredited to St. Kitts and Nevis while they attended activities to mark the second annual Diplomatic Week hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on St. Kitts. 
 
The Nevis Finance Minister had been invited to present the topic “Nevis’ Strides in the Financial Services Sector” in which he gave a comprehensive outline of some of the activities that contributed to the growth of the industry since it had been introduced on the island in 1984.
