Executive Editor -The News-Star – Kathy Spurlock
Basseterre, St. Kitts – Nevis

The Executive Editor of the Louisiana’s News-Star newspaper, Kathy Spurlock, is giving thumbs up to her stop in St. Kitts as part of a Caribbean cruise on board the Carnival Miracle, which docked at Port Zante last Thursday.
“Her business card reads Executive Editor, The News-Star, but Kathy Spurlock has the heart of a reporter. This opinion is based on the fact that, when asked about a recent trip, most clients respond with a few adjective filled remarks, but not Kathy,” said the paper.
She gave a full report in the paper’s travel column, in which she told her story about her cruise vacation with husband Lindsey Wilkerson aboard the Carnival Miracle.
“The shore excursions in St. Maarten, St. Lucia and St. Kitts lived up to our expectations. We especially enjoyed the catamaran cruise in St. Lucia, where we were taken to a tiny pristine bay and beach for swimming. In St. Maartin, we actually found another Enoch’s! And in St. Kitts, we shopped for beautiful local batiks, saw exotic gardens and visited Brimstone Fortress, an amazing world heritage site with stunning views,” Ms. Spurlock wrote, accompanying the article with a photo of she and her husband in St. Kitts.
“My only regret is that we didn’t have more time in each port to explore, but we did get a good taste of each island and actually saw some of the resorts (which makes us more likely to book a return trip to one of those places because we’ve seen them.) I would recommend “” with caution “” that people who don’t choose excursions hire a taxi to just explore the real community somewhat. The ports now have open-air malls filled with duty-free jewelry and souvenir shops, and on day two in port, we realized we were seeing the same shops and the same souvenirs we saw on day one in port,” wrote Spurlock, adding: “We had a wonderful time on our cruise and had absolutely no travel glitches. Hate to go back to work tomorrow, but we’re already starting a piggy bank for our next adventure.”
