St. Kitts – Nevis Received Over 7,000 Cruise Passengers

Over 7,000 cruise ship passengers graced the shores of St. Kitts – Nevis on Monday November 12, 2007.

Three ships carrying a total of 7,067 passengers arrived in port Monday morning.

The Ocean Village 2 with 1,642 passengers docked at the Deep Water Port after it arrived from Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. It left in the afternoon for Dominica.

The Crown Princess with 3,238 passengers arrived from St. Thomas in the United Stares Virgin Islands with 3,238 passengers before leaving for Grenada.

Arriving from St. Lucia was the Carnival Miracle with 2,187 passengers. It left in the afternoon for its homeport in Florida.According to reliable sources, most of the passengers disembarked and went on sight-seeing tours via taxis and the St. Kitts Scenic Railway, shopping, sun and sea-bathing, hiking, horse-back riding, snorkeling, golfing, motor biking, kayaking and sailing.

Visiting St. Kitts on Tuesday is the Aurora, which has a passenger capacity of 1,975 passengers. The Queen Mary 2, which can carry 2,600 passengers berths at Port Zante on Wednesday (Tuesday) and the Empress of the Seas, which has a capacity of 2,020 passengers, will berth on Saturday (17th).

An estimated 54,463 cruse passengers from 26 ships are expected to visit this month.

The 2007/2008 Cruise Ship Season is set to be the best ever in the history of the industry.

Over 425,000 cruise ship passengers are expected be on board the cruise liners which will either berth at Port Zante or the Deep Water Port or drop anchor in the Basseterre Roadstead.

According to the 2007/2008 Cruise Ship Itinerary released by the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) an estimated 426,302 cruise passengers should visit St. Kitts during the months of October 2007 to July 2008.
