Over 1,100 persons have confirmed their registration via the mobile confirmation service that started two and a half weeks ago.
The revelation was made on Tuesday by Supervisor of Elections Pastor Leroy Benjamin, during an appearance on the SKNIS radio magazine programme, Perspectives.
“We had 270 confirmations in St. Pauls, in Dieppe Bay we had 147 and in St. Peters we had 285 persons which [adds up] to a grand total of 702,” he said, citing the figures and locations from the second week of operation.
Statistics from the first week of the mobile service showed that 424 persons went out to confirm their registration. This was done in Saddlers which recorded 199 confirmers, while the smaller communities of Molineaux and Lodge saw 137 and 88 persons confirming their voter status.
Confirmed residents living in the communities of Challengers, Newton Ground and Lower St. Peters are currently taking advantage of the convenient process. Pastor Benjamin noted that he will be happy to share the updated numbers with the public via the media next week.
The week of May 06 to 10 will facilitate persons from Mansion and Christ Church who can confirm at the Estridge Primary School. Ponds Pasture residents can visit the New Town community center to confirm their registration, while the Boyds Gospel Hall will cater to residents from Boyds and Trinity.
All mobile confirmation venues are open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays. An official at the Electoral Office said the mobile confirmation venues will be closed during the Monday May 5th and 12th public holidays.
