Cabinet approved on Monday import duty concessions for two small local manufacturers to expand their businesses.
Minister of State with responsibility for Information, Sen. the Hon. Nigel Carty said the decision taken at the Cabinet Meeting, are for the importation of heavy equipment to assist these local businesses in their expansion as they attempt to respond to increased local demand for their products.
“The equipment imported will also help to improve the quality and the competitiveness of the manufactured products,” said Minister Carty.
He said the concessions given to local entrepreneurs are in line with written and stated policy of the governing St. Kitts – Nevis Labour Government to support economic growth in the country and to support wealth creation among nationals.
New start-up businesses that fit under the relevant policy will be given particular concessionary assistance by the government,” Minister Carty outlined.
