Another passionate appeal from St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas to parents and guardians to take control of their children and to mold them to become productive citizens in the society.

“Parents and guardians I want you to take the advice that my ministers gave to you over the last four (4) weeks and to take control of your children,” said Dr. Douglas at the end of the traditional Labour Day March on Monday.

He told the parents and the guardians that it was their sacred responsibility to join with the government to take their responsibilities seriously.

“The violence and the crime will not do this country any good.  I call upon the police and all law abiding citizens to join hands to save our country from a few misguided people,” said Dr. Douglas.

He disclosed that the contract for the building of the Co-Ed Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre to replacement for the Harris’ Home for boys and girls has been awarded and construction should commence shortly.

“The Co-Ed Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre will assist our young people through difficult adolescent period and give them a chance to develop socially acceptable behavior.  The Co-Ed Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre will assist in dealing with criminal activities among youths and help to decrease the number of young offenders who are currently locked behind bars at Her Majesty’s Prison causing our prison to be over-populated,” said Prime Minister Douglas.
