The new Register of Voters has been posted.
The Register, which includes the names of persons who were registered as Voters up to December 31st 2008, was posted at two conspicuous places in each of the 8 polling stations on St. Kitts and the three polling stations on Nevis.
The Electoral Office said on Monday that the posting of the Register of Voters on Saturday 31st January 2009 is in keeping with the provisions of Section 43E of the National Assembly Elections Act (Chapter 162.)
The statement calls on all registered voters to “check the Register of Voters to ensure that their names are listed on the Register.”
Persons who claim to be entitled to be registered as a voter and whose name, address and occupation has changed or entered in an incorrect manner may claim to be registered correctly by completing a Notice of Claim (Form No. 7) and submit it to the Registration Officer at the Electoral Office not later that Tuesday 10th February 2009.
The Electoral Office said that any person whose name appears on the Register of Voters for an Electoral District may object to the registration of any voter whose name is included in the said register.
Notice of Objection (Form No. 8) should be submitted to the Registration Office not later than Tuesday 10th February 2009
Claim and Objection Forms are available at the Electoral Office in Basseterre and Charlestown.
