Douglas announced that the Christophe Harbour Development will transform the twin-island Federation into one of the best luxury golf and resort destinations on the face of the globe.

Speaking at the presentation, Prime Minister Douglas said that the comprehensive development plan for the Southeast Peninsula unveiled by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, along with other developers – Firesky Ventures, Auberge Resorts and Kiawah Development Partners would place St. Kitts and Nevis to the forefront of the high-end, luxury sector of the Caribbean tourism market and one of the best luxury golf and resort destinations on the face of the globe.

The four hotel project, when completely built out, will sit on six spectacular beaches. Its natural harbour, sheltered by green hills and high bluffs, will provide the ideal setting for mega-yachts as centerpieces of a seaside village of restaurants, shops, boutiques, two five-star hotels managed by Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and Auberge Resorts and oceanfront homes. Atop the green cliffs will be a Tom Fazio championship golf course and clubhouse plus a collection of luxurious villas and private homesites.

St. Kitts – Nevis Attract More Ships To Its Registry

St. Kitts & Nevis International Ship Registry was recently represented at the NEVA Maritime & Shipping Exhibition in St. Petersburg, Russia.

“The shipping market in the Russian & ex-USSR states regions is huge and of significant potential for both the Ship Registry and Financial Services departments’ said International Registrar of Shipping & Seamen, Mr. Nigel Smith, who attended the event.

He said that the growth of the Russian economy since “˜perestroika’ and the number of new shipowners emerging means St. Kitts and Nevis has to exhibit at such events to get a foothold in and grow in the market.  St. Kitts Financial Services exhibited at an event for their sector in Moscow in 2006.

New York & Atlanta Flights To Skitts To Commence Soon

The American Airlines flight from John F. Kennedy International in New York and the Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta into St. Kitts’ Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport will provide convenient travel options for nationals and visitors.

In anticipation of the increased need for airlift to support the additional rooms and demand for first-class seats, the new non-stop service will commence to St. Kitts from JFK on American Airlines in November 18th this year and from Atlanta on Delta in February next year.

Travel agencies are of the view that the flights will provide more convenient travel options for visitors and nationals from two top affluent markets, while simultaneously allowing for connections to these flights from additional United States and international gateways, particularly those in the Upper Mid-West region of the US and from Canada.

Spirit of Adventure Makes Port On Maiden Voyage To Nevis

The 2007 Cruise Ship season kicked off in Nevis on Wednesday November 07, 2007, when the first cruise ship, Spirit of Adventure, made its inaugural call into the Charlestown Harbour. Deputy Premier of Nevis Hon. Hensley Daniel, who led a small welcome party on board the vessel, said the island had been able to maintain its allure which kept visitors wanting to return.
 
He said the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) had played its part and ensured that the necessary amenities were in place to attract and make its visitors to the island’s shores welcome and comfortable.
 
“I know that your ship is called the Spirit of Adventure I think it is in that spirit of adventure that several of our people come to Nevis to find out what is the mystic and what is the secret”¦We have a small island which we keep tranquil, which we keep esthetically appealing and beautiful and we want you very much to savour that as you come,” he said.

Tourism Helicopter Service For Nevis & St. Kitts

The addition of a helicopter service is expected to boost the growing tourism attractions in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Leeward Islands Helicopters Ltd began operations from a makeshift helipad at Frigate Bay on November 1st using a 4-seater Robinson R44 helicopter.

The new attraction, which has employed 8 local persons, offers visitors and residents breathtaking panoramic views via island tours, private charters and custom tours of St. Kitts and Nevis.
