The Nevisian Heritage Village is an open-air museum that showcases the evolution of Nevisian social history through housing. It was conceptualized by the late Hon. Malcolm Guishard, a former Minister of Tourism and Culture in the NIA, and is under the care of the Ministry of Tourism.

The village features houses from the Carib Indian (#ad) era, furnished with antiques and relics of their relevant periods, along with a blacksmith’s shop, a rum shop, and a shoemaker’s shop. To complete the traditional village setting, there are “backyard” gardens, flower gardens, and various species of indigenous plants and shrubs.

At the 15th anniversary of the village in February 2018, the Ministry of Tourism honored the late Mr. Guishard for the establishment of the facility and erected a portrait of him at the entrance to the facility. Hon. Mark Brantley, Premier of Nevis, praised Mr. Guishard’s efforts, calling him a visionary who had the ability to see far into the future and understand the importance of creating lasting monuments to our cultural heritage.

So come out and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Nevisian Heritage Village, and learn more about the rich history of Nevis! It’s sure to be a day filled with fun, culture, and lots of delicious food and drinks!
