Kelsia Liburd Takes 1st Place In Junior Category

The Ministry of Tourism extends congratulations to Kelsia Liburd of the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School for capturing First Place in the junior category of the 2009 FCCA Foundation Children’s Environmental Poster Contest.

Second Place was awarded to Azaan Liburd of St.Thomas’ Primary and Third Place went to Kadeem Rogers of the Special Education Unit.

Ddlen Griffin of the Gingerland Secondary School was the sole participant in the senior category of the contest and he is therefore the winner in the senior division of the contest.

All Primary and Secondary school students in FCCA’S partner destinations were recently invited to participate in this competition, which seeks to promote and stimulate environmental awareness among students and effectively educate younger generations on the importance of environmental protection.

The poster contest was conducted in the Junior Division, ages 12 and under and the Senior Division for children 13 to 16 years of age.

Each student was asked to submit a poster and select a topic of their choice that promotes environmental awareness.  The poster must depict at least three ways in which his/her destination can make a difference in preserving the environment.

The FCCA will award cash scholarships to the top three winners as follows:

In the Junior and Senior Division ““ The First Place winner will receive US$ 3000, Second Place- US$ 1,500 and Third Place-US$1,000 for student and school.

To reward students for their efforts, all country finalists will receive US$200.00.
