Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry and the Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Ashley Farrell, will be heading to St. Lucia to attend the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) forty-seventh meeting, from May 23-24, 2008.
The OECS economic union will seek to develop a single economic place among the islands which will provide an expanded foundation for business development so that the region can be more effective in reaching the international world.
Government officials will also look at the cost of living in the sub region, as well as do a review of member states’ deployment of diplomatic and other missions in relation to costs and effectiveness for a new Trade and Investment agreement.
The delegates will be hosted by Prime Minister Stephenson King of St. Lucia and OECS Director General, Dr. Len Ishmael.
The new OECS Chairman, Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell of Grenada will open the meeting on Friday, May 23rd at the Bay Gardens Resort in Rodney Bay.
The OECS member countries are Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts – Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands.
