Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry and the Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Ashley Farrell, will be travelling to Antigua to attend the Twenty-Ninth meeting of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) from July 1-4, 2008.

The Opening Ceremony will be held Tuesday, July 1st in the Admiral Lord Nelson’s Ballroom of the Sandals Grande Resort and Spa, while the Business sessions of the meeting will be convened at the Jolly Beach Hotel, Wednesday, July 2nd- Friday, July 4th.

The conference plans to focus on a number of issues including Tourism, which in view of its importance to the economies of the region will be a standard item on all CARICOM agendas.

The meeting will also look at achieving food security, addressing rising energy costs, Climate change and matters related to the CARICOM Single Market.

The gathering will be hosted by Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda and Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Government, the Hon. Baldwin Spencer.

The CARICOM member countries are: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts – Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
