Breaking Ground On New Nevis Health Centre

Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry made brief remarks at the ground breaking ceremony for the Brown Hill Health Medical Centre on Tuesday. He informed those present that the health centre will be an outstanding medical facility for the people of Brown Hill and neighbouring villages.

The centre will be constructed by Mr. Curtis Liburd of Beyond Homes Ltd. through the Basic Needs Trust Fund. The project will cost $EC 500,000 and will be funded by the Nevis Island Administration, the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

“Canada has always been a friend of Nevis since as early as the 70’s.  I am so pleased that they are continuing to assist us with giving good health care to the people of Nevis.

“The Nevis Island Administration recognised a need for a facility that would be modern, clean and would assist with the cost of preventing diseases is for less than rehabilitative care,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Brown Hill Medical Centre will comprise of a pharmacy nurse stations, kitchen, doctor’s examination rooms and laundry and utility rooms. The health facility will also accommodate a variety of educational programmes with particular emphasis on outreach programmes.

At the conclusion of Premier Parry’s brief remarks, he said this Nevis Administration had made numerous investments in health services on the island and the Brown Hill Medical Centre was yet another clear example.
