Visual Arts exhibition and sale will be part of the Culturama Festival this year.
The exhibition will take place from Monday, July 28 to Friday, August 1st at the Red Cross Building on Chapel Street in Charlestown.
“There will be no charge for the exhibition tables and no commissions for items sold. This is an opportunity for local artists to earn an extra income and to promote this important aspect of Nevisian Art and Culture,” said Culturama Chairman, Mr. Halstead “˜Sooty’ Byron.
All artists will also be given the opportunity to display and sell art and crafts, without charge, at the Cultural Food Fair at the Charlestown Secondary School Villa Grounds on Saturday, August 2, 2008.
While there will be no charge for participation by crafts men and women, the Visual Arts subcommittee has recommended that a small donation from all sales be given by the artists to a charitable cause on the island.
“I welcome everyone who is into the arts, to come out and participate in this exhibition that will display Nevisian art at its best,” said Ms. Marie Mason, one of the organizers of the event.
Anyone interested in participating in this segment of Culturama, is asked to contact the coordinator, Ms. Marie Mason, at 469-5505 or 663-5784. Interested parties can also register at the Culturama Secretariat in the Cotton Ginnery Mall.
