Nevis 2008 Budget Session Set For Monday

The Budget Session of the Nevis Island Assembly will be on Monday, December 17 at the Nevis Island Assembly Chambers, Hamilton House at 10:00 AM

Premier and Minister of Finance in the Nevis Island Administration, (NIA) Hon Joseph Parry will lay on the table The Draft Estimates 2008 and The Nevis Appropriation 2008 Ordinance, 2007.

Following the introduction of Bills, the Hon. Minister of Finance will seek leave to introduce and have read a first time the Nevis Appropriation (2008) Ordinance, 2007.

Premier Parry will review and give an insight into his Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) led government’s expectations for the Tourism, Agricultural, Infrastructure, Financial and other governmental sectors.

Premier Parry and other Members of his Government will also provide information on the budgetary allocations for the various Ministries, review the outcome of the previous financial year and give a fiscal prospect for 2008.

In preparation for the budget, the Ministry of Finance and Premier Parry hosted a national consultation earlier this year.  The consultation was aimed at forging a balanced strategy in building a stronger economy for Nevis.

Over 80 delegates from the private sector, community groups, sports organizations, small businesses and public corporations attended the one-day exercise.
