Charlestown Nevis (July 13, 2006) The St. Kitts-Nevis & Anguilla National Bank Group of Companies continues to commit itself to the promotion and preservation of culture in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. To this end, the bank was the first to present sponsorship to the Nevis Culturama Committee on Wednesday July 12 at the Nevis Branch in Charlestown.Speaking on behalf of the company, Mrs. Patricia Wilkinson, Business Development Officer of the National Bank Group of Companies, noted that it was her pleasure to present the sponsorship cheque on behalf of the Managing Director, management and staff in support and to sponsor one of the contestants in the 2006 Ms Culture Queen Pageant.
“We are very pleased to have this opportunity once again to stand behind the Nevis Culturama Festival. We’ve been supporting the festival practically from its inception and will continue to lend our support to preservation of culture in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis,” she said.
She observed that her company was known for the support it had been giving to the communities in which they do business. “We believed in the preservation of culture in the Federation and this is one of the things that the festival stands for. We believe that it is important, the music, the art, the calypso, they define who we are as a people,” added Mrs. Wilkinson.
In accepting the sponsorship, Mr. Antonio Liburd expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Culturama Committee. “We are very grateful for this continued support of Culturama and in fact the development of culture in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis,” he said. “This year, National Bank will be sponsoring Ms Sedamo Jones and I’m sure that Ms Jones is going to do her best, promoting the company in the best way she can.”
The brief presentation was witnessed by Nevis Branch Manager, Mrs. Shermaine Lewis who gave some brief remarks. “This presentation confirms National Bank’s strong commitment to the development of our nation,” she added. “In the past, National has sponsored many programmes in health, in sports, in education and today again, we are sponsoring and preserving the culture of our Nevisian society. It is my delight as branch manager, to say to the Nevisian public that National stands ready to serve and to help in every area,” said Mrs. Lewis.
Ms Jones thanked the bank for its sponsorship.
