Government’s I-Literacy One-to-One Laptop Project is well underway with the arrival of prototypes of the personal computer to be distributed to high school students and teachers on St. Kitts and Nevis.

ICT Development Coordinator Christopher Herbert demonstrated the capabilities of the devices to SKNIS and gave a brief outline of the specifications.

“The preliminary choice of PC is the touch screen slate or tablet personal computer. This device allows for a fusion of cutting edge technology, ease of use, flexibility and portability” he explained. “The slate PCs specification includes 1 gigabyte of DDR RAM, a 10.2 TFT touch screen, wireless and wired network connectivity, 3 USB ports, VGA output, and an integrated webcam and mike.”

Mr. Herbert added that the device has a miniscule weight of 2.2 pounds. Additionally, it comes with a sturdy carrying case, and the ICT specialist indicated that users can look forward to a structured orientation package that outlines the best use practices of the computer.

Mr. Herbert invited comments from the public on the specification of the machines and said such can be submitted on the Facebook page I-Literacy One 2 One Project.
