Hurricane Dean Stops Nevis Ferry Service

Newcastle, Nevis
August 18, 2007

Ferry services within St. Kitts and Nevis are being affected due to the passage of hurricane Dean. The four companies operating ferry services have cancelled all trips between the two islands as early as last evening. Sea conditions have deteriorated causing the operators to move their boats to safe areas.

Flight delays have been reported at the Vance .W. Amory International Airport here on Nevis, while an official at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts reported that flights are on schedule.

  1. Does anyone have an update on the status of the ferry service since this post or an update on when the service is to be restored? Service at was interrupted in late 2007, but it’s now early 2009. We’re researching a day trip to Nevis from St. Kitts in early 2010 but will only have 7 hours to complete the journey and sightsee.
