Eastern Caribbean High Court Judge Her Ladyship, Madame Justice Rita Joseph-Olivetti expressed appreciation to St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas for going to court at short notice Thursday morning.
At the end of his 45-minute session on the witness stand, Justice Olivetti expressed thanks to Prime Minister Douglas for assisting the Court and finding the time during his hectic duty to facilitate the hearing.
Dr. Douglas in a comment with his Comunication’s Unit, expressed thanks to the Court and to Her Ladyship Justice Olivetti for the guidance she provided and the respect displayed for the Office of the Prime Minister in assisting the Court in the injunction matter involving the Hon. Attorney General.
The Prime Minister was in Court Wednesday to observe the Contempt of Court proceedings brought against his Attorney General, Dr. the Hon. Dennis Merchant and member of Parliament for Constituency #8, Hon. Cedric Liburd.
At an impromptu press conference on the steps of the Lee Llewellyn Moore Judicial and Legal Services Complex Wednesday, Dr. Douglas said at a press conference he had heard there was a subpoena for him to give evidence and had turned up in Court just in case he was needed.
Meanwhile, Senior Counsel for the Hon. Shawn Richards and Mr. Lindsay Grant of the People’s Action Movement (PAM), Mr. Leslie Haynes, Q.C. apologised to Prime Minister Douglas and the Court for the “lack of housekeeping matters before the hearing to ensure that the Hon. Prime Minister had the correct copies of documents submitted to the Court.”
