In what many are describing as the most thrilling game in recent SKABA history the Horsford’s Ghetto Roots pulled off one of the most hard fought victories in the history of SKABA when they overcame a 16 point deficit to defeat the Challengers Exodus and win the teams 7th National Basketball SKABA title.
Ghetto Roots was led by Berlie Francis who had the game of his life to carry the team to a 84-77 victory. Francis was named Playoff MVP.
Manager and Coach of the Ghetto Roots Team Wallis Wilkin who is currently off island and missed the championship game had this to say, ” I am extremely proud of the guys and their resilience in withstanding the charge of a young vibrant Exodus team. I must congratulate Exodus who gave a good fight. The team’s Coaching staff which includes Assistant Coach Dr Marcus Natta and team advisers Don “Dongo” Farell and Clive “Naba” Collins along with Kiethroy “Kielroy” Lewis all came together and did a fantastic job which has resulted in the clubs 7th SKABA title. We all did it for the memory of our fallen brother and coach Dwayne Sturge. This championship is dedicated to him.”
Ghetto Roots next stop is scheduled to be the BVI where they have been invited to take part in a Club Championship invitational tournament later this year.
Game stats were not yet available and press time but would be published in a subsequent release.
