The community of Saddlers and the surrounding area will get a new queen on the weekend.
Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture, Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas will crown the new Ms. Saddle Fiesta from a field of five beautiful lasses, who will strut their stuff on the stage in five appearances – the traditional fanfare, introduction, swim wear, talent and evening wear.
Vying for the 2008 Miss Saddle Fiesta title on the show which starts at 8:00 P.M. on Friday night are 15-year-old Denecia Davis, sponsored by Beaumont Park; 17-year-old Phelicia Warner, sponsored by Jenkins Limited; 17-year-old Cherane’ Fyfield, sponsored by Simone Francis; 19-year-old Peline Isaac and 20-year-old Keirish Richardson, sponsored by Roland Mills.
On Tuesday night, the contestants were hosted at a dinner by Prime Minister Douglas at Marshall’s.
“Your social activities help you to know each other better, even though you are competing it brings you in a friendly and social setting by putting aside the competing spirit,” said Prime Minister Douglas.
The contestants were first presented to the community during last week Friday’s official opening of the Saddle Fiesta activities at the Saddler’s Primary School.
Last Sunday, the contestants were joined by Prime Minister Douglas at a Church Service at the St. John Anglican Church, hosted to breakfast and lunch at the home of Christopher’s Cottage in Saddler’s, participated in a clean-up at Lynches Bay and appeared in bath suites at the Bikini Bash in the afternoon.
