Premier Parry Heads Up First Assembly Meeting

Information released Friday, January 23, 2009 states that Premier and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Joseph Parry will seek to introduce four bills for amendment when the Nevis Island Assembly convenes at its Hamilton House Chambers in Charlestown on Monday, January 26th, 2009 at 10:00am.

According to Clerk of the Nevis Island Assembly, Mr. Dwight Morton, Premier Parry will seek to have the Bills: The Nevis Corporation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2009; The Nevis Limited Liability Company (Amendment) Ordinance, 2009, The Nevis International Exempt Trust (Amendment) Ordinance, 2009, and The Nevis International Insurance (Amendment) Ordinance, 2009, receive their first and second reading during the sitting.

According to the Order Paper for the sitting, from Clerk of the Nevis Island Assembly, Mr. Dwight Morton, President of the Nevis Island Assembly, Mrs. Marjorie Morton will make her formal entrance which will be followed by prayers; a motion for the approval of the Order as circulated; messages from the Deputy Governor General and announcements by the President.

The upcoming sitting will be the first for the year and will come almost one month after the Premier delivered his 2009 Budget Address in December 2008.
