Meeting To Promote Respect & Understanding
Basseterre, St. Kitts – Nevis
October 31, 2008 (SKNIS)
Representatives from across the region will convene in St. Kitts – Nevis in November for a four-day conference designed to promote “respect and understanding.”
The “Consultative Meeting on Respect and Understanding for the Caribbean Region” will bring together key government and youth focal points, civil society representatives and others, to learn more about the Commonwealth’s respect and understanding agenda as it relates to young people.
Senior Youth Officer in the Department of Youth, Diane Francis told SKNIS that the forum is being organized in collaboration with the Commonwealth Youth Programme Caribbean Center (CYPCC).
“Delegates will basically work towards establishing a practical framework which will foster greater participation of young people in democracy and development in order to promote and maintain peaceful societies,” Francis noted. “We are excited to partner with the CYPCC and other stakeholders in hosting this event in St. Kitts and Nevis.”
The roundtable forum runs from November 18 to 21 and will be held at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel.
