November is a special month for young people in St. Kitts and Nevis, and the Minister of State for Youth Affairs is encouraging all youth to achieve, excel and go the distance.
“This year, 2008, has been a year of great national achievement for this our tiny but proud Federation,” the Honourable Nigel Carty stated, in an address to declare Youth Month open. “”¦ [Our] achievements [over the past 25 years] would not have been possible without the participation of our young people and “¦ I am proud of those who continue to achieve in spite of all.”
Special mention was made of State Scholar, Agiel Browne and other students who wrote overseas examinations in pursuit of academic excellence as well as local athletes who represented the country as sports ambassadors. The local CARICOM and Commonwealth Youth Ambassadors, youth clubs and ordinary citizens trying to make a positive difference, were also commended by Minister Carty.
An invitation was issued for all to support the Youth Month activities that include a public lecture, youth awards ceremony, song festival and church service.
“You have the full support of the Government,” stressed the Minister. “The future continues to look promising [for] our young people and we shall continue to cherish our richest resource. Our young people!”
