Basseterre, St. Kitts – Nevis (July 19, 2007):
Organizations and institutions in St. Kitts and Nevis have an opportunity to get financial assistance from the Organization of American States (OAS) for training programmes in 2008.
Public and private agencies, philanthropic and commercial institutions as well as institutions of higher learning all qualify to apply for OAS assistance.
The OAS has set certain priority areas for assistance in its 2008 Professional Development Scholarship Programme.
They include education, social development and the creation of productive employment, economic diversification, scientific development, strengthening of democratic institutions, sustainable development of tourism, culture as well as sustainable development and environment.
Success in receiving funding will be hinged on level of demand for the specific training course as well as duration and cost-benefit of the course among other things.
