“Due to the present World Economic situation, the travel industry is in crisis, luckily St. Kitts – Nevis is the exception to the rule,” commented Advisor to Tourism, Mr. Alastair Yearwood who will lead a Nevis delegation to World Travel Market (WTM) from 10-13 November at the Excel auditorium in London.
A delegation consisting of Permanent Secretary in Tourism- Mr. Tyrone O’Flaherty, Director of Nevis Tourism Authority- Mrs. Garcia Thompson- Hendrickson and Marketing officer- Mr. Devon Liburd.
A dire airline economic crisis is taking place throughout the world however airlift into St. Kitts-Nevis is increasing as the accessibility into the United Kingdom is escalating with the introduction of a British Airways flight into St. Kitts.
Since the demise of Carib Aviation, LIAT has taken up flights into Nevis to assist connecting flights into Europe.
“Thanks to the intervention of the Premier of Nevis and Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Joseph Parry, an afternoon flight on LIAT Dash 8 will be on stream from December 1st leaving Nevis at 12:50pm to Antigua and that will enable persons in Nevis to go to regional islands and Europe,” articulated Mr. Yearwood.
The WTM is a four day business to business travel trade industry event that will bring together worldwide buyers and sellers from every sector of the industry as it provides a unique opportunity to meet , network , negotiate and conduct business with major markets such as the U.K other European markets and Scandinavian countries.
According to Mr. Yearwood, “Nevis must attend the World Travel Market to say, that as the world is closing down, the Federation is opening up. The twin island paradise should feel great, since the airlines have displayed a tremendous amount of confidence in St. Kitts – Nevis with the increase in airlifts to the Federation.”
