Government’s housing development programme over the past 13 years has housed over 10,000 people, St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has disclosed.

“The records will show that since taking office in July 1995, my Government has provided our people with over 2,500 low”“income, affordable and middle”“income homes. In other words, we have been able to house well over 10,000 people, if you consider that each household has about four members in the family. This is about a quarter of the population of this country,” said Dr. Douglas.

Calling it a housing and shelter revolution, Prime Minister Douglas touted his St. Kitts”“Nevis Labour Party Government’s EC$50 million housing programme under which some 500 new homes are to be constructed.

“Construction has already started in the area of Garvey’s and also in Half Way Tree,” said Dr. Douglas.
