The S.L Horsford St. Paul’s St. Football Club wish to place on record its profound appreciation for all those who contributed to our capturing the Inaugural Digicel Super League National Football Championship at Warner Park on Wednesday July 29th 2009.
We are heartened, yet humbled by the expressions of love and appreciation that are being showered on our organization. This championship would not have been possible without the support of our many loyal fans all around the world and in the St. Paul’s and surrounding communities in particular.
We must commend outstanding performances from team captain and the obvious choice for defender of the year Thrizen “Jammas” Leader, mid field general George “Yellowman” Isaac and goal keeper Kayian “Benjie” Benjamin. These players proved to the doubters if there are any left that they merit selection on our national first team.
We are grateful to our proud corporate partners, S.L Horsford and Company Ltd. who stuck with us during the difficult times; their loyalty and dedication to our club and community over the past 16 years have been unwavering.
The club wishes to pay special commendation to the new SKNFA executive headed by President Anthony Johnson. For the first time in many years we were able to focus on the job at hand and not be distracted by “off the field” activities. We intend to use this championship as a bully pulpit to help restore credibility and respectability to the game we love.
The club is planning a series of activities to celebrate this historic victory starting with an island wide motorcade on Saturday 8th August 2009. The motorcade will leave St. Paul’s at 12 noon travelling east around the island via Saddlers and then climaxing in St. Paul’s at the St. Paul’s Primary School. D J Ronnie Rascal will provide music for our fans as we wind our way around the island.
The 2008-2009, Back to Back Road March Champs, “Grand Master” will take over from DJ Rascal and lead the Street Jam form the St. Paul’s Primary School to the St. Paul’s New Sporting Complex. There will be a brief ceremony at the complex after which The Grand Masters will entertain the crowd into the night.
We invite the entire federation to come celebrate this historic victory with us.
