Subject:  Nutrition Week Activities (June 01 to 07, 2008)

Notice:  The Nutrition Unit of the Ministry of Health is encouraging residents of St. Kitts and Nevis to take part in Nutrition Week which runs from June 01 to 07 and is being celebrated under the theme: “Healthy Eating and Active Living: Be Aware of Trans Fats.”
 

June 01 – Opening Statement by Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Patrick Martin Aspects of the Theme will be featured on “A Voice for Health” (ZIZ) Reading of Statement of Director of CFNI, Dr., Fitzroy Henry.

June 02 – Plant a Tree Extravaganza: planting of fruit trees in primary schools.

June 03 – Booth Day:  Booths will be erected on the Bayfront (Shoreline).

June 04 – Buy a Fruit Day:  General Public encouraged to buy and eat fruit.

June 05 – Public Lecture: “Living Well with Diabetes” presented by Dr. Caroline Lawrence and Dr. Andrew Holness at the University Centre at 7:00 p.m.

June 06 – Fun Walk with Fruit and Vegetables: Preschoolers will walk through Basseterre in simple costume with fruit and vegetables starting from Independence Square at 9:30 a.m.

June 07 – Radio Quiz and Information: On “Totally for Kids” (ZIZ) under the theme “Fats in the Diet.”
