Trade Mission Visits City of Brotherly Love

A St. Kitts and Nevis International trade delegation is visiting Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection.

The Mission is expected to raise awareness of global issues, promote greater participation in international dialogue and exchange, by building and strengthening bridges of mutual understanding and respect.

The major objectives include promoting the relationship between  St. Kitts and Nevis and the Delaware Valley which includes Philadelphia and surrounding counties; increase international understanding and opportunities for wider reaching relationships and promote the exchange of health education, international economic development, technology opportunities, and tourism between St. Kitts and Nevis and the City of Philadelphia.

Wednesday 10th June has been dubbed “Tourism Day and Economic Development Day.” Events planned include an Economic Development Breakfast Meeting, a Tourism Luncheon Meeting, a visit to the United States Export Assistance Center and Receptions hosted by the Mayor and sponsors of the visit.

Thursday 11th June, dubbed “Technology Day and Economic Development Day” will be the St. Kitts and Nevis delegation meeting with the Business Association of West Parkside, the issuing of a Proclamation from the City of Philadelphia during a Session of the City Council and visits to the Delaware River Port Authority and ET Industries.

Friday 12th which has been dubbed “Heal Education Day” includes a Health Exchange Dialogue with University Penn Medical Center, Thomas Jefferson Hospital, Temple University Hospital and Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Discussions are expected to include international medical student exchange with medical teaching institutions and international internships between hospitals in St. Kitts and Nevis and Philadelphia.

The St. Kitts and Nevis delegation will tour Philadelphia with visits to Constitution center and the Art Museum.

The delegation, which was to be headed by St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas is led by Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affiars, Dr. the Hon. Dennis Merchant.

Other members of the delegation are Ambassador and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of International Trade, Commerce and Industry, Her Excellency Ms. Roslyn Hazelle; St. Kitts and Nevis Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Dr. Izben Williams; St. Kitts and Nevis Permanent Representative to the United Nations, His Excellency Delano Bart; Head of the Tourism Office, Mrs. Jacinth Henry Martin; Director of e-Business Operations, Mr. Abdullah Skerritt; Mr. Christopher Herbert, Mr. Mahesh Nariani and St. Kitts and Nevis General Consul in Philadelphia, Mr. Worrell Nero.
