Crisis Communications Worksop To Be Held

In an effort to introduce public agencies as well as the media to important concepts in crisis management as it pertains to the tourism industry, St. Kitts Tourism Authority will be hosting a Crisis Communications Workshop on 17th November, 2008 at the Frigate Bay Resort. Some of the topics that will be covered are: The Necessity of Advance Preparation, Defining Your Role in the Crisis, What to Say and What Not to Say at All.
Facilitator of the workshop, Candice Kimmel of New York based PR firm, Adams Unlimited, stated that, “In today’s 24-7 news cycle and with the advent of citizen journalism, the basics of what’s considered news or newsworthy as well as where news comes from is changing. There is a constant demand for more information, particularly when it concerns a natural disaster, crime, pain, suffering or conflict.
The two hour sessions will also address the issues of Crime against Tourists and Natural Disasters. Representatives from various institutions including the Ministry of Tourism, the Defense Force, Police and NEMA are expected to attend.
The mission of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority is the promotion of St. Kitts as a destination in all its major regional and international markets.
