St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has thanked scores of supporters and well-wishers who joined him on Sunday’s Scenic Railway train.

“One year ago, you gave us very strong support and we are very grateful and will always be grateful for this. We will never take your support for granted and we ask for your continued support as we continue to work together to build not only our constituencies, but to build our great country, St. Kitts and Nevis,” said Prime Minister Douglas as the six-car train rumbled to the Needsmust Station just outside the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport.

Dr. Douglas, who is also the Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher Six (Newton Ground to Harris’), joined residents of the constituency as well as persons from around St. Kitts on a tour of the northern part of the island from the La Valle Substation to the Needsmust station.

Organised by the St. Christopher 6 Constituency Branch, the Sunday afternoon tour was deemed a success as over 300 persons went on the Sunday afternoon tour. Patrons ranged from all ages.

Leaving the La Valle station, patrons enjoyed the fields of sugar cane and the railway winds around the slopes of Mt. Liamuiga, its volcanic tooth piercing the clouds, and along the Atlantic Ocean.

Patrons got a glimpse of the hidden black sand beaches and overgrown plantation estates. The train crosses several tall steel girder bridges, with some stretching for 200 to 300 feet with drops of 60 to 90 feet as they relished the green ravine and valleys.
