The Ministry of Culture is hailing the success of two nationals in regional pageants staged in Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands.
Former National Carnival Queen, Sudeaka Francis won the Miss Caribbean World Title and reigning Talented Teen Siobhan Phipps placed second runner up in the Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant in Anguilla.
“The Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs and The National Carnival Committee extend hearty congratulations to Ms. Sudeaka Francis, a truly talented, ambitious and inspirational daughter of the soil. Ms. Francis, a former National Carnival Queen captured the Miss Caribbean World Crown in Tortola on Saturday May 21st. Competing against thirteen other beauties Ms. Francis emerged the winner, capturing the talent segment in the process,” said Permanent Secretary, Ms. Sharon Rattan.
She said at the Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant in Anguilla on 21st May, Ms. Siobhan Phipps, “our reigning Ms. Talented Teen successfully captured both the best interview and best costume segments and was named second runner up.”
Ms. Rattan said that the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs and The National Carnival Committee are extremely proud of the young people and their accomplishments in particular Ms. Phipps.
“We wish Ms. Phipps continued success and look forward to her performance at the upcoming Digicel-Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant in December and encourage the general public to give her their full support,” said Ms. Rattan.
