Another Young Man Loses His Life

Police at Basseterre received a report that at approximately 10:10 pm on Sunday 13th March 2010 a shooting had occurred at Conaree. Police officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Special Services Unit (SSU) and Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) responded immediately to the scene and their investigations revealed that, 29 years old Quincy Liburd of Gingerland, Nevis but who resides at Lime Kiln Project was shot multiple times and killed. Investigations also revealed that Shevaughn Hendrickson, 22 years old of Lime Kiln was also shot and injured during the same incident.
The circumstances in brief are as follows:
The deceased Quincy Liburd was parked outside a certain residence in Conaree waiting to pick up his cousin Shevaughn Hendricks in motor jeep PA-4557. Just before Hendricks entered the vehicle, two (2) masked assailants fired multiple shots at both Hendricks and Liburd, killed Liburd and injured Hendricks seriously. Liburd received multiple shots about his body and Hendricks received shots to his legs and hand.
Hendricks made his escape through some nearby bushes and Liburd immediately drove off attempting to escape but did not make it far as he lost control and collided to the rear of motor car PA6916. Police officers from the Crime Scene Department visited and processed the scene and a number of items of evidential value were collected.
Liburd was pronounced dead on the scene by the District Medical Officer. Also, the Coroner gave permission for the body of the deceased to be removed to a funeral home under police escort. Hendricks is presently warded at the JNF Hospital in stable condition. An autopsy will be performed at the earliest opportunity to determine the cause Liburd’s of death. Investigations are ongoing.
