Law and order is a non-negotiable priority for the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis throughout the twin-island Federation.
“And law and order is a non-negotiable priority here in Cappisterre, an important sea lane just beyond this area’s shores ““ with all that that implies. This world is becoming ever more complex. And we have a country to protect and move forward,” said Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, Prime Minister and Minister with responsibility for the Police and the Defence Force.
Delivering the feature address at the official opening of the newly constructed Dieppe Bay Police Station, Prime Minister Douglas, who is also the area’s Parliamentary Representative for the past 21 years, said ensuring the socio-economic expansion that is taking place is only one component of his Government’s vision for this area.
“Just as important is the provision of a strong, interagency national security presence in this area. And this Dieppe Bay Police Station is evidence of my Government’s determination to ensure that our nation’s police, fire and rescue services, customs, and coast guard constitute a focused, interagency presence right here, in order to effectively execute the strategic components of my Government’s national security vision for this country,” said Dr. Douglas.
He said the existing St. Paul’s Police Station and the Dieppe Bay Police Station constitute a firm law enforcement presence that is ready to serve the people, the school children, and the businesspeople of Cappisterre.
“And I urge the people of this area to form an unbreakable partnership, a bond, a working relationship based on mutual trust, mutual respect, and love of country with these two establishments, and the men and women who work there,” said Prime Minister Douglas.
He said when the new police station in Tabernacle is completed he will ask the residents of that community to understand that they and the police officers of the nation have an obligation to work together as partners, as compatriots, and as defenders of this country.
Dr. Douglas thanked the Government of Mexico for the partnership that both nations have established.
