St. Kitts – Nevis Plan Year Long 25th Independence Anniversary Celebration

Next year is a special one for St. Kitts and Nevis as the country will celebrate 25 years of self rule. To mark this momentous occasion, a year long series of activities are being planned by the National Independence Celebrations Committee.

The committee’s formation was announced on October 29 by Minister of State for Information the Hon. Nigel Carty during the weekly Post-Cabinet Briefing. The committee is made up of 25 representatives from the public and private sector.

The inaugural meeting was recently held at the Ministry of Finance Conference Room under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Sam Condor. Minister Carty told SKNIS that the meeting was very productive as preparations for the silver anniversary are being formulated.

He said that persons interested in serving on any of the various subcommittees are encouraged to contact the relevant authorities. Subcommittees include Research and Documentation; Sales and Marketing; Protocol and Transportation; Finance; Thanksgiving and Religious Matters; Awards and Recognition; Logistics as well as Pageantry and Security.

Persons can also volunteer to serve in areas such as Community Rallies; Sports, Youth and Technology; Public Relations; Prime Minister’s Lecture; School’s Independence Programme; and National Heroes Day.
