The media in St. Kitts and Nevis has been urged to “find imaginative, upbeat, convincing ways” to encourage young people to try more positive paths and to take advantage of programmes like the Youth Empowerment through Skills Programme.

“This is not something you will be doing for the government – or for any political party.  Crime, I wish to remind you, is no respecter of persons,” said Prime Minister Douglas at Wednesday’s Press Conference.

In calling on the media representatives to find unique ways to make hard work and straight living seem appealing, ” I urge, cool, even macho if possible (ways),” said Dr. Douglas, pointing out that “not any one segment, but everybody in the federation ““ including you and your families ““  would stand to benefit from this new programme that I announce today.”

Prime Minister Douglas regards the media as a major stakeholder and has involved its membership in soliciting their views and shaping public policy.
