An Ecumenical Service held at the St. George’s Anglican Church yesterday (Thursday) signaled the end of months of local observances in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.
The activity, which followed closely behind the final activities in London this week, was highly celebratory and was attended by uniformed bodies including representatives of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, Fire and Rescue Services, and Nurses. Also present were Members of Parliament, Diplomatic Corps, Clergy, Senior Government Officials, Her Majesty’s Honourees and members of the business community.
The evening’s proceedings included special renditions by Quatro Voci and the Defence Force Band as well as remarks by Deputy Prime Minister Honourable Sam Condor.
“A Tribute to Her Majesty” by Mr. Raphael Archibald MBE, recounted the interesting story of an heiress who was third in line to the throne yet who against the odds and through a series of unforeseen events became the Queen of England. He highlighted her steadfast leadership and many contributions to the Commonwealth over the 60 years of her reign.
Officiating ministers for the service included Father Christopher Archibald, Reverend Father Wilfred Daniel, Reverend Dr. Eustace Rawlins and Reverend Nasel Ephraim.
